Nikon 16-35 f/4- still waiting!!

Hiya

I ordered the Nikon 16-35 f/4 six weeks ago now from LCE. I understood the lead time was lengthy, maybe four weeks but I'm still waiting.

Is there anyone else in/had a similar positor with this lens? I heard rumour that actually supply of this lens had started flowing again - apparently not it seems.

Aye, theyre just up the road from me and my favourite camera shop. The reason I went with LCE was because they're £40 cheaper there. Still, I'm sure CC would have price matched. I'll give it another two weeks then I'll speak to Gareth @ CC.

I'm just disappointed that it's taken so much longer than expected. I have a holiday to Cornwall to book while the sun's still warm and I'd like to take the 16-35 with me.

I guess you have to work out what's more valuable to you, the lens you want at the time you want it or £40. For me it is always the former.

When I wanted a 16-35mm I took a short train ride to here:

Sure it was a few quid more than in some places but it was a decent price, they had it in stock, I could try the lens on my camera and I could walk away with the lens.
 
Well, it's been 10 weeks now and still no sign (sigh*). I'm wondering if Nikon favour some dealers over others? i.e if I had placed the order at Clifton Camera would have I received it by now.

As it's missed the deadline for taking it on holiday with me I suppose I don't mind stretching my patience a little further
 
10 weeks! That's shocking. Did you pay up front? I would pull out of the purchase and buy elsewhere. Is £40 really worth 10 weeks waiting?

I paid a £50 depost. Aye, 10 weeks is patience testing to say the least. I'm going to leave the order running for another couple of weeks and if still nothing and depending if somewhere else has the stock till I'll cancel the order.

Not that it's the fault of LCE, I just want the lens. :shrug:
 
I know exactly how you feel. My situation is slightly different, I'm awaiting funds to come through for gear, it's been 6 weeks now. It's like waiting for Christmas every day! so cumbersome. I can't face more waiting by ordering online once it arrives, so I will be buying in bricks & mortar camera stores. Enough waiting already! :D

I hope you get it sorted soon, but if I were you I'd look for the deposit back and get it elsewhere. You could have the lens in a week.
