Yes
I need a wide angle zoom and it really comes down to these two lenses.

Im sure the 16-35 is probably the ‘better’ lens but how does the 18-35 compare?

I’ll be using it adapted on a Z5.

Has anyone used both? Is the 16-35 worth the extra couple of hundred?

In all honesty I've encountered both on workshops and used a 16-35 myself...

The 18-35 is in some ways better, I found rendering a little kinder, more natural and the distortion less obvious.

The advantage of the Z system is in the wider lenses so far - and would try get a native mount 14-30, 20 1.8 or something else.

Greg, get the 18-35. It's a great lens and makes the 16-35 all but redundant. It's a pity you're a couple of weeks late as I just sold a mint one which I used briefly with my Z6.

Possibly because a used one is 250% more expensive? :D
Well going by used prices on this forum (I haven't done extensive search for Nikon lenses)

14-30mm - around £700 here or £809 new on offer from Amazon (I saw on Nikon thread)

18-35mm - £400
16-35mm - £500
FTZ - £125

Doesn't seem like a huge lot of difference.....

Where on Amazon?
No idea it was mentioned on here:

Perhaps ask the him directly?

Doesn't look right.. £1079 according to the Nikon site. (£180 off RRP)

Thanks for the input!

As much as the 14-30 would be lovey, the cheapest I’ve seen it is £770 grey, where as the 16-35 seems to be around £550-£600 used, and the 18-35 is around £350-£400 used.

If the 18-35 is optically as good as the 16-35 then it seems to be the one to look for, I could probably live without the extra 2mm.

Do you already have the FTZ adapter?

Thought I would update this thread seeing as WEX finally ( almost a week late) managed to deliver the lens a couple of days ago.

Optically it’s great, plenty sharp even wide open. It’s also really light which is a pleasant surprise, along with the Z5 it’s a very lightweight combination.

I’d definitely prefer 16mm vs 18mm at the wide end but it’s not worth the extra couple of hundred the 16-35 would have cost.

Someday of course I’d love the 14-30 Z but this will do the job perfectly well until then!
