looking to buying the nikon 17-55mm 2.8 lens
i do a few shots inside houses and church's mostly candid pic some portrait as well. would also like it as my walk about lens
do you think this has all the angles covered for small rooms in a house and inside buildings ?
what about pic quality how do you rate this lens if you have one ?.
 
I bought a used version of this lens earlier this year and I'm very satisfied with it, it oozes quality.

It is a great walkabout lens and I have taken landscape, portraits and most recently last week I took it to the local hill climb for some motocross shots.

I would say that for interior shots you might want a fast UWA like the Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 which I also own and can highly recommend.

I would say get it definitely and if you find its not wide enough save up later for a UWA.
 
As a walkabout/general lens it's perfect... sharp at f/2.8, decent zoom range, and first-rate IQ. On a D300-sized body it sits perfectly, balanced out nicely by that type of body.

Certainly, for interior shots, it's a quality optic, although as already pointed out, it might not quite be wide enough at 17mm (depends on the size of the rooms - if you photograph a mansion then no issue :lol:). The interior stuff I've shot with mine, I've just done a stitch job from several shots. As for inside churches it'll be ideal, because you'll have more space to frame up...

I use mine a hell of a lot; it's just come back from Nikon after taking a swim while on a shoot.... focussed better than ever and in the month it was away, I forgot just how sharp it is. A truly brilliant lens.

Have a look on Pixel-peeper.com and just put in the body etc and it wil show you some images at different settings etc - it may help you out & then again it may not be what your after....
 
Said it before, this is the best mid range zoom you can buy for a Nikon DX camera, in my opinion.
