Nikon 17-55f2.8 dx

Ok folks I was wondering if any of you have used this lens as I'm reading mixed reviews online and don't want to spend a lot of cash on a bad lens , it will be replacing my sigma 24-70 on a Nikon d300 as my general ,portrait / everything lens

optic wise is pretty much same as the nikon 24-70. Very sharp wide open.

Only complain is weight lol

I agree with all of the above comments....only issue for me is that it's DX only!

Yep, best all-round DX lens and probably one of Nikon's sharpest optics full stop. A bit of barrel distortion at 17mm, but nothing eye-waterinngly bad and definitely nothing to worry about. It's built like a tank and makes the 3rd party and Canon version pale in comparison. Does weigh a bit but for me, that's a good thing, as it's solid. A proper bargain too on the used market. The lens that's shot me more material than all my other lenses combined.

It's a truly awesome lens. Get one if you can afford it. You won't be disappointed.

Ahh thanks folks I Always like to get users opinions before laying out the cash as I'm broke and my lenses need to be good enough to do portraiture and weddings to earn money . Hopefully next week I can afford to trade in my sigma for the Nikon.
