Nikon 17-55mm quality at 35mm?

I don`t know how it compares to the prime at 35mm, but I can say that the 17-55 is a superb piece of glass, razor sharp throughtout the range and built like a tank.

I agree with Ade, plus it focuses pretty quickly :thumbs:
 
I'm looking to sell my 18-200 VRll as its not used much and start plugging the gap by adding the 17-55mm. I already have the excellent 35mm 1.8G as a lightweight walkout and I know the 17-55mm is a hefty piece of kit. So just wondering how it compares. I know it can't replace the lightness or fast aperture of the 35mm.
 
I bought the 17-55 some time ago and it's a cracking lens, I also picked up a used 35 also and I'm happy to use both. The 17-55 gets the most use but for the price of the 35 and 1.8 I'II keep both.
 
Again, another happy 17-55 user. I also own the 35mm but find the flexibility of the 17-55 is well worth it. I have never personally tested each lens at 35mm but they are both very sharp :thumbs:
