Nikon 18-105 3.5-5.6 vr repair help

Hello,

I dropped my camera a few days back which was in a bag with my 18-105 attached. When i re-opened to inspect the lens was no longer attached and on the back mount a small piece of plastic had snapped off, thus making re-connecting it impossible.

Does anyone know a rough price to get something like that repaired/ is it even worth getting repaired?

Any help would be best, I will also be contacting Nikon soon. Just wondered if anyone else has had a similar issue.

That lens has a plastic mount, not sure it is something that you could change yourself, I am sure that they would supply the part, just whether you are competent enough to do it.

Failing that ask them for a price to do it, however I feel you will be getting close to the cost of a new one.

Yeah, the Nikon UK offices are about half an hour away or so. I was worried it might cost in the range of a new lens. Fingers crossed it won't.
