What are peoples views on this lens? Do you find it to be a sharp shooter?
 
On the whole I find mine to be pretty good .... provided you are in good light and use good handling techniques.

I find I can get more reproducible results with the 18-105VR but that's just because I don't have the steadiest of hands :)
 
Lawrence, this used to be my lens of choice when doing studio pics. I really do recommend it, for a budget lens it's as sharp as they come, especially at f/8. I sold mine when I knew I was getting the 24-70 but before than I had some great results out of it on holiday as my 'walkabout' lens.

It's go a treat with your D5000.

I love my 18-135, I think it's a cracking lens & really sharp. I've just taken some portraits of my granddaughter with it and I'll post a couple when I've fathomed out how to do it.
 
Thanks guys. I'll have to give mine a proper workout then - just got a s/h one and doesn't seem that sharp to me.
