Yes
Decided to buy on of these lenses, as worse case scenario of not liking is fleabay pundits will pay top wack ;)

Just wondering how many people have ordered, from where, at what price & what date they are expecting delivery ?

AJP's Dave - http://www.ajpurdy.co.uk/erol.html

£499 / End February !? (AND they have offered Tamron/Sigma equivalent on loan until it arrives - seriously considering taking them up on this !)

Not brill but, apparently an early manufacturing fault causing all sorts of backlogs (and heavier than anticipated demand) ... apparently !

Your source/price/delivery ?

Thats a good offer !!!

Best I could find was £489 from warehouseexpress, although no dates yet. Amazingly Onestop wanted £530 !!!....if they could source one.

Yes, I think so - I have trawled the usual sites too. :thumb:

Benefit of AJP's is I think they are a first class outfit and, best of all they are on my doorstep. :D

I have not seen anyone else offering a loan lens either ! :Ponders:

When did you order yours Venomator?

I ordered back in November (and paid for it in December!) and haven't been offered anything :(

Sorry Chez I've - got some serious catching up going on !? :innocent:

Ordered mine in December near the end of - AJ's are really customer oriented hence the loan offer ! Currenlty using the Tamron 18-200 and although it functions pretty well it doesn't feel like a quality lens !

HTH ? :smilenod:

Ordered mine from Warehouse express on the 3rd January for £489. Just phoned them this morning (Feb 14th) and they are stating a couple of months to clear the backlog of 200+ orders. I'm thinking I may be around the 50-100 mark after 6 weeks. Hopefully end of next month? They say their last delivery was 9 unit and thats not going to make much of a dent in thier back log. pfft....

Very good of AJ's to offer that lens loan. I am using a friends 50mm prime at the moment. As this is my first set up I thought i'd go with a great lens from the start and get the big VR.

Please if anyone recieves deliveries of the 18-200 VR then post on here so we can keep tabs on their roll out.

Welcome aboard Moggy.:) I'm sure the lens is worth waiting for, but I do know the feeling. :(

That's the trouble, we've got used to next day delivery. :(

I finally received mine yesterday :D

Hmmmm - lucky you ... still I have the loan one taking a pasting (small mercies !).

Let us know what you think ???

Ooops - sorry ... see you have in the other related thread !?!

My God, I'm still waiting for mine!! I ordered on the 3rd January. I phoned Warehouse Express the other day and they said they are still having supply troubles and to sit tight but now i'm thinking that I really want to get a cheaper alterative to push me on. I mean a few weeks wait is ok and i can even stand a few months but this is getting ridiculous now.

So, given that at the moment I have a borrowed 50mm 1.8 prime and that I have the 18-200 VR coming (eventually) what lenses do you recomend? I was looking at getting something like a Tamron AF SP 11-18mm in the future to complement the Nikkor but for the time being as a stop gap i'm looking at something cheap and in the 70-300 mark. The group test in Digital Photo this month sugests the Tamron or the Sigma. Does anyone have any comment on either of those? Can anyone suggest maybe a different focal legnth and give me a reason why?

As I said this will be a stop gap to fill the void at the moment and will eventually act as a trade in on a big long prime but your recomendations are both greatly appreciated and hotly awaited!! :whistle2:

Moggy
