Nikon 18-35mm f3.5-4.5G AF-S ED

So, has anyone got one? I have a 16-35 VR but I'm intrigued by this as they would satisfy my lightweight travel arrangements.

I have one and love it to bits.

Not quite as sharp as my 14-24, but not far off (to my eyes, YMMV, etc...). The 18-35 gets more use though as it's smaller and lighter for one thing and I find the focal length range more useful.

Yes, that's the one Dave. Interesting you say it's not quite as sharp as the 14-24, many of the reviews seem to say it's thereabouts, but possibly better than my 16-35. The more I look at what I shoot the more I don't particularly like shooting as wide as 16mm so I don't think I would miss the extra couple of mm. The VR isn't really of much benefit to me either, I quite like the idea of less weight for my travel stuff.

TBH I can only tell the difference between the lenses when pixel peeping. With prints side by side it's often a toss up between which lens was used. The only drawback to the 18-35 I have found is that it's prone to flare.
