Thought i would make a thread for those of us who have an 18-70 Nikon lens where we can post pics for critic and to see what one can get with the lens.

My pic has not been altered except for a crop:

These look soft after I have uploaded, they aren't in 'real life' must have done something on the upload:( Before upload, the eyes are all razor sharp:shrug:

It's a nice lens, but it can't do much about bad moods:lol:

This one is actually very very sharp (but not hear, shame as I was trying to demo the sharpness!)

Yeah i took them down by 75 perceng then again 10 then still greater than the 200k limit, so down another 10 percent. Thats what would have done it no doubt....

Lovely shots. Just goes to show what is capable from the lens.

Cheers Samens, was just to give you an idea, shame they look soft with the resize though.
Glad I never forked out for a 16-85 now, couldn't justify it. I might be 'sharper', but I probably wouldn't notice it.
Seems a good enough walk around for my type of photos anyway :)
Cheers.

My old camera and lens:eek: You take better pics than i could with them:)

Hey John, was it really your old camera?:D
I might up load one or 2 again and resize them properly this time, I thought it was my laptop at home, but they look blurry on this 'puter as well.

..of course, thanks for the compliment.

I'm kind of happy with my own level tbh, cant ever see my stuff on a magazine cover somehow:lol: but I'm able to get half decent pics to document my girls growing up:thumbs: - that was my goal a year or 2 back.
Still have a very high 'bin rate':D

Yeah it was, they look ok on my work monitor

OK - I'll leave them as is then - they dont look right at all on my work laptop or my ipad....

Your camera is still going strong, I've had it a month or so now and put about another 5k clicks on it (with about 7 'keepers' is my rate) I'll be using it until it gives up the ghost - another year or 2 at least hopefully:thumbs: (i shouldn't tempt fate!)

that's more than i took with it in nearly 3 years lol

Yeah, I came from a D3000 and the increased buffer and fps.....I got a bit carried away in the first week or so:lol:

Did you buy a grip for it?

I never John , no....
Was looking around a couple of weeks ago out of interest. There seems like a good few 3rd party efforts out there (?) - you tried one before on the D90 then? There was one (Meike or something) I saw on Amazon for a cheapo price.
Not sure of it would make it too heavy?, never used one before, so suppose might need to try one out:)
Might see what pops up on here, I think every one basically just seems to swap their equipment around on this site:thumbs::)

There was a genuine one for £50 ish in the classifieds,I preferred it with the grip as i have big hands

Yeah, i'll have a browse around. I wouldnt say my hands are particularly big, but it it might still make things a bit more comfortable I suppose.
Said I would buy a flash next as well (that was before last weeks lens purchase)....must. stop. buying. from. here:lol:

Just following up, John...got a mb-d90 today, very happy with it. Like new, boxed, warranty still (!?), aa tray for 50 quid from LCE - not bad.

Compliments d90 very well and i find the shutter button very nice and similar to the main shutter unlike a lot seem to complain about.
Got a sb600 as well :)
