nikon 18-70mm lens

I really would like the above lens but due to financial situation at the moment I cant afford one so was wondering if there was a cheaper alternative it has to be 67mm too and similar range. The camera i have isva nikon d70

The old 28-80 can be had for less than £50, isn't a 67mm though. Out of curiosity, why is that essential?

Cheers for the suggestion 67mm is what im after as was given some filters and hood that are 67mm

What lens are you using at the moment? Personally, (as long as what you have is useable) I would wait until I could afford the 18-70, it's one of the best budget zooms available.

Have you looked at the 18-105? That's got a 67mm filter thread. Probably not quite as good a lens as the 18-70, but it has VR and can be picked up very cheap second hand.
