Hi,

Iam thinking of selling my Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 to get a Nikon 180mm f/2.8 as I have just got a 300mm f/4 Nikon so the tamron doesn't really get used, I need a f/2.8 lens still for the sport, Just a few question, Whats the focusing speed of the 180mm's like? and is there any issues with them?

Cheers

Joe

Its a really good lens built like a brick out house and tack sharp, however they are screw drive focusing so might be a bit slow for you. :) Just noticed you have a 300mm f4 listed if its not AFS then the 180 should be about as fast.

Excellent lens, great used buy and AF speed is plenty fast enough for most uses, I could just about cope with birds of prey flying towards to camera. Only problem is it loses a lot of contrast and shows quite a bit of chromatic aberration when shooting wide open into backlit scenes, if you do a lot of that then this isn't the lens for you.

Thanks for the Replys ! and Ian I have the 300mm AF-S Version, Does anyone have any experience shooting at night with the lens with the focusing speed as I need this lens to manage to shoot League 2 Football at night!

Cheers

Joe
