I have just bought this lens, I am finding quite a bit of vignetting, those of you who have this lens, do you sort it in post processing, I have Capture NX2 and Photoshop. I have read somewhere, where you can adjust for the lens, I have Lightroom too, but afraid to say it looks complicated. It's really sharp, I like the reach etc of the lens, just this little problem.
 
Have you set the vignetting control on the camera body, it is in the Shooting Menu

Martyn I am using it on a D700, I have seen that in the menu, what do you suggest I use.
I noticed vignetting on a studio shoot, using aperture of F8
 
I would suggest some trial and error, it has options of 'High' 'Normal' 'Low' and 'Off' ... I have my D700 set on Normal but I do not have the 24-120, try it on 'Normal' if that isn't enough try it on 'High'
 
My D4 has the Shooting Menu > Vignette Control set to 'Normal' and I have honestly never noticed an issue for this lens with this setting and the lens profile set in ACR. There is an option to set Vignette Control to 'High' but I would be surprised if that was necessary - I assume you have the right lens hood properly attached. :)

Gramps, thank you for your info, I knew you had this lens, I didn't use the lens hood. I know I have the vignette set to off at the moment. Will sort it when I get home from work The lens hood is petal shaped.

I would expect a change to 'Normal' would fix it for you :)
 
The vignette control doesn't apply to RAW files so unless you shoot JPG/TIFF I wouldn't bother with it personally. It will improve the look of the embedded JPG that you see on the screen, but you'd still need to apply correction in post for RAW files.
 
Jan ... if the above is true and you are shooting raw, Capture NX2 has a vignette control ... it is located on the "Camera & Lens Corrections" drop down
