Has anyone sold a 24-70 to get the 24-120? or has anyone got a 24-120 and can compare it to the 24-70.

I have some reviews of the 24-120 but no real comparison.

The 24-70 is without doubt the best lens I have ever used. I don't know for sure, but I'm willing to bet the 24-70 will out perform the others noticeably. Whilst it doesn't have VR, most may find that 2.8 is of more use than VR anyway.

I am yet to play with the 24-120, so please bare that in mind when reading the above... but it'd have to be mind bogglingly good for me to even consider selling my 24-70.

I've got both lenses. I purchased the 24-120 as I wanted a little extra reach on the lens. It's not built as well as the 24-70 lens but to be honest I don't see any difference in image quality. It's lighter, VR is virtually silent, although to me focus is slightly slower - but that could just be me!

No sharpening done on the image. Taken at f4.

I have a 24-70 which obviously i love to bits, i hurt my wrist recently and now find the D700 with 24-70 attached a bit heavy to carry around.
I am probably the only person considering the 24-120, I am doing so for the weight, VR and extra 50mm as a walk about lens.

If i am told my wrist will not improve then i will be selling the 24-70 in favour of the 24-120.
I had a 24-105 IS lens when i was with canon and loved it plus i have a 50MM f1.4 for the low light stuff.
