Nikon 300 vs 300s focus speed and ISO

I just had the misfortune of going into Jessops with my D200 to try and lens out.

I also tried it on a D300s and now I'm really unhappy with the slow focus on my D200!

So, I need to upgrade I think.

Does anyone know if there is a massive difference in focus speed D300 to D300s? I don't need video, so D300 would be fine.

Also, is there any difference in ISO? The D200 is ok up to about ISO400, but after that it gets disappointing.

I'm happy to shell out the extra on the S if it is really worth it.

No difference. Sensor is identical. Video, quiet shutter mode and dual memory cards are the main change features of the D300s. Very little difference.

AF, ISO etc are the same

The D300S video is absolutely rubbish- no one in their right mind would buy it for that.
The only benefit from the D300S is that it can be bought new.

Second hand I would buy a D300

I have the 300 I find it fine but I still find my d80 fine. Could it be that you need you camera serviced?

From my understanding they beefed up the frames so I guess the could have added a faster auto focus. But I wouldn't say it's much better. But really I don't think your missing much if your not into video!

Maybe get a D7000 and use the D200 as second camera?

Otherwise for a brand new D300s i would buy a used low mileage D700 instead.
