NIKON 300MM 2.8 VR I V.S. VR II

Hi , i am in the market for a nikon 300mm 2.8 vr but i can not decide if its worth spending more to get the vr 2 what are peoples opinions on the differences??

I have just bought a V11 and love it.............plus very easy to hand hold

I have both and I can't see any meaningful differences.

Construction, optics and coatings are all the same. The VR is supposed to be better in the Mk II lens, so if you use it hand-held in poor light (I don't) then you might see a difference.

Nothing wrong with the MkI. I had one from new, and never felt the need to upgrade it to another 300mm.

1-stop of additional VR, and a M/A switch as well as an A/M. But as Stewart says all the main things that affect your images are identical.

Now if there was a MkIII and it used lighter optics and casing to match the Canon MkII then I think my recommendation would change..... if I had to buy one now I'd get a good condition used MkI.

Depends on your view I guess, there doesn't seem a great deal of difference in price ... there's a VRl on here at £2500, my newer mint VRll was £2800 - your money, your choice
