Yes
Is it worth getting this lenses as an outdoor one for toddlers?

Also is there a non S version for a nikon as I was hoping it would cheaper

thanks

sam

Yes it would be ideal for toddlers. I find it a nicer and more useful focal length than 50mm.

No idea about non -s versions though.

What camera do you have?

If its a Nikon that hasn't got an inboard focus motor (D40-D60 etc) then you will need the AF-S model.

Other than that, cracking lens for the money.

For outdoor I would look at the 85mm 1.8, that way you can keep your distance and capture more candid moments. The bokeh and quality is better aswell.

assuming you can autofocus - there a several previous generations of the 35mm. The AF-D f2 is very well thought of although its quite common to find one with oil/grease inside from the aperture blades

I have one of these and it is virtually fixed to my D40.

I use it for general photography mainly of my kids when im out and about.

I actually have the 50mm 1.4 and am torn between a d90 and d300 at the moment.

However now that the brood has grown I am wondering if the 35mm will be better or should I just invest in a 12-24 or something
