Nikon 400mm f2.8 on a monopod

Hi all
I have got a chance to buy a mint Nikon 400mm f2.8 vr at a very very nice price.
I am really tempted (have been looking for a 300mm f2.8)
I plan to use it for sports mainly and primaly motorcycle racing. At the minute I have a sigma 100 - 300 with I use 99% of the time on a monopod with the simple manfrotto tilt head - model 234 i think.
I use this with a monopod belt pouch.
Wanted to know if you think that the same set up would be ok with the 400mm f2.8

I have the 400f2.8 and it is a beast, heavy as well. So a sturdy mount will be needed.
A monopod will be ok on solid ground, not so sure about the belt though.
All I can say is suck it and see.

Use the Canon 400mm 2.8 both handheld and with a monopod with no problems (I am 6.1 though).

Not sure if the monopod pouch would feel comfortable with that weight.
What I do is put a bean bag on my shoulder and balance the monopod on it while walking.
