Nikon 55-200 lens

Have been looking to maybe buying the Nikon 55-200 lens as have heard it's good and wanted to use it a wedding in a couple of months.
Anyone have any views

I had this lens before I upgraded to the 70-300 VR. It's a great lens, really sharp and very compact compared to the 55-200 VR.

I have the VR version and I love it. I used it for 2 friend's weddings (as a casual observer) and it was great for outside. For inside you'll want a flash. I used an SB400, but doing it again I'd go 600 or bigger for the better bounce capability.

Absolutely echo the above, had the VR version before getting the 70-300, and loved it. Shot two weddings as a guest, wasn't so much use for indoor due to low light/not wanting to use flash (35mm & 50mm f1.8 for that!) but outdoor was stunning, especially head and shoulder shots at longer focal lengths.

Sort of wishing I hadn't got rid of mine now, easier to carry than the 70-300
