Nikon 55 - 300 on D90

Has anyone used the Nikon 55 - 300 VR on a D90? Is there any distortion been a cropped sensor or is the lens built for cropped sensor. Is the IQ sharp ?

This could be my next lens purchase. Found the kit 18-105 bit limiting on zoom.
