Nikon 70-200 VR and SB400 anyone used them together?

i wonder how they would work for group portraits [4/5 peeps]
its the only flash i have kept and it looks like it will be gloomy tomorrow :)
 
You might need to be aware of the length of the lens causing shadows from the rather "stumpy" flash, just a thought.
 
i prefer no flash but they want a very bright sort of false,happy photo

its the only zoom i have and wont have time to change lens so wanted a bit of flexibility.
probaly i should take the hood of? :)
 
don't worry about the height of the flash. I use my 400 over top of my 300/4 and there is no problem with shadows on short stuff.

hmmm. I used to have a SB400 and when i used it over my Tamron 28-75 with the hood on it always caused shadows.
