Nikon 70-200 VR or VR11?

b****r....had a pretty lucrative weekend shooting horses. Could now afford the difference for VR11

note to self....PRATT !!

Woo Hoo
VR1 arrived today. 1st thing I did (after kissing it) take pictures of blue sky.
Can't notice any vignetting,70mm.
Very happy......breathes sigh of relief....and talk about sharp....:)

Enjoy the lens Trevor! No reason why you still can't get the 2 x for it. ;) :D

Kev.

OK. Used in the real world last night. Shooting Show Jumping in an indoor arena. IQ fab, everything at 2.8.

Handling....feels a bit thin, guess I'm so used to the Canon version. Zoom ring could be a bit easier. Fast to focus though, as expected. Gonna have to try VR2. Could be expensive although I'm sure I could live with it.......couldn't I !

That's what I felt to start with, that and the fact that the zoom works the wrong way round.

The performance though .......... :D

It does look thin...lol
Just got mine back after spending four months using the old 80-200 which was a 'proper' girth...

Hi Folks,

I received my model of this beast yesterday from Calumet and it is real beauty!

I would like to ask other owners about the noises which this lens is making.

The motor is really silent I could barely hear anything even with VR active – but because the motor is silent I got annoyed by “distance/focus ring” which is rotating inside the lens

Every time when it reached the right spot it is making something like 'click' noise.
If you focusing on different objects it is like series of clicks (like the ring is locking into position or when hitting the ∞) it is almost like knocking to the doors… well not that loud but still

Quite weird – but I have never experience similar product so I have no idea is it ok or not.

Please let me know your thoughts on that.
Thanks very much!
J

Oh... and some Nikon Porn ;-P
