I've had this lens just over a year now and its fab but I've noticed I'm now getting some vingetting.

Originally I thought the sensor needed cleaning but having swapped lenses over and done some test shots against white backgrounds I don't think that is the problem.

It's only really noticible on really bright skys and not so intrusive that I can't crop it out but can I do anything? send it for some maintenance?
It's my main lens that I use for event photography and I've got a busy season starting in May!

Nope...that's what it does - why do you think there is a 70-200 f/2.8 VR MkII out so soon?
The Mk1, which I also have, was engineered with DX cameras in mind but without being a 'true' DX lens. It's therefore optimised for use with the D2x and similar.
It works 'OK' with FX cameras, but there is slight vignetting.

I actually like it and add a bit to most of my images anyway, so the 'upgrade' to Mk II isn't going to happen in this lifetime unless I break the one I have.

on FX - removing the vignetteing was one of the improvements in the mk II. You can't do anything about it but I never found it an issue at all - cerainly not worth worrying about

Fair enough! can't afford the Mk II ..unfortunately:shrug:

Funnily enough I've been looking through some shots I took yesterday and I think I'm worrying about nothing, it looks a lot worse looking through the lens than it does when I process the shots, I have to really look to see it, so maybe I'm just being super critical! :)

i have had mine a while but only really getting to use it recently.

i have never noticed it, but i have noticed the more i use the lens the more i love it.

it seems heavy at first but i have grown accustomed to it and its beutifully balanced.

if the mark2 is better it must be something elase because the mk1 is superb
