Been thinking of upgrading my original Nikon 70-200 VR to the VR II version and with the 8% Jessops Quidco on offer I'm considering biting the bullet this weekend.

It'll be used mostly for portrait shoots and weddings, anyone else made a similar move and been using the VRII in anger recently?

I like fact the new version is shorter and fatter - it felt better on camera when I tried it at focus, but have doubts as to whether the upgrade is going to be worth the £600 (ish) price differnce. I'm not bothered about the MK1 FF vignetting but it would be nice to have improved corner to corner sharpness, overall sharpness, bokeh, colour rendition and focus speed are my prime concerns.

Views? Will be used on D3/D700...

I've just upgraded from a 80-200mm AF-D which is VERY sharp lens - however the 70-200mm VR ll blows it away - the VR is fantastic - the colour/saturation/sharpness is second to none. It was an £1100 upgrade for me and worth every penny - start using it for real on Wednesday!

Exactly my experience too!

thanks - I'm pretty much set on upgrading now, just nice to hear some real world reviews now that the dust (and hype) has settled after the new lens was released. :)
