Nikon 70-200VR

OK, not the usual, how good is the againt the Sigma/Tamron, but something different. I bought a new one from Kerso that arrived yesterday, but noticed that the zoom ring is stiff between 135 and 200. Is this a common trait or are they all like this? The lens works perfectly and althought there's a tight spot, the lens zooms and autofocuses perfectly. Anyone any advice?

Had mine since new for just over a year and can't say I've noticed any stiffness, it's very smooth throughout.
Might just need using and wearing in :shrug:

yep - same here I've never noticed and just had a quick check - smooth throughout

I thought so. My previous/current Nikon mid and long zooms all turned faultlessly. It just feels like a 'tight spot' as its fine up to 135mm.

Mine is smooth also. If I were you I would back it before the ten days are up.

Ihave just tried mine, it has not had much use and is smoot all the way in both directions. Get it checked out!!

Thanks again for the info. I PM'd Kerso to see if I claim it under warranty or if I send it straight back to him. Bit disappointing but not the end of the world.

70-200VR? I've used mine quite a lot this year and no issues with the zoom ring.

I trialled a Sigma 70-200 before I got the Nikon and wasn't happy with it. Maybe it was a bad copy, but it didn't convince me at all.
