I have just ordered a 70-300VR and want to know will it be compatible with a Nikon 1.4 teleconverter?

I know a Nikon TC will not fit but believe a kenko can be used, but i am guessing the quality of the shots will leave a lot to be desired.

aye, the Kenko 1.4 fits, but I was never all that happy with the results from that being fitted to my 70-300VR

Works ok with the Sigma 1.4 TC as well. Pictures that I have taken with this combination are ok but not fantastic. Of course this is probably down to me. I'll see if I can dig examples out for you.

Not fantastic but I think this was probably down to my technique (still learning)oop's no picture

Thanks for the replies and advice.I own a 300 f/4 and a 1.4 tc and used together they are brilliant, but I want VR and I am led to understand that Vr still works with a 1.4 tc? having already read the thread by JerryL, I quite liked the IQ of the shots posted, which is what prompted me to order the 70-300,although to be honest I was kinda hoping I could use use my Nikon tc,alas 'tis not to be.Then after reading the other threads on this subject (cheers guys)next on the agenda will be a Kenko 1.4 or Siggy 1.4.

I actually thought that the IQ looked far better than I would have expected using the 70-300 and a Kenko 1.4TC. I can imagine getting off to a good start with this combo and save the pennies for the 300 f4 in the meantime. I will most likely, for now, only venture out on 'nicer weather' weekends getting bird shots so I'm better perfecting technique with the 70-300 VR with and without the TC, after all it's a hobby not a living for me.
