Hello everyone!
Was just wondering if anyone could point me into the right direction to where's the best place to get one of these lenses for a good price? What is a good price and how much am I looking to pay for one of these as I don't want to pay more than I should.

There was a couple going in the classifieds, not sure if they're still there. I recently bought one from there for £300 which I was happy with. A couple have gone for around the £280 mark since.
 
For new one have a look at cameraprice buster.
 
I have one for sale on eBay. I assume that the rules here stop me posting a link, and as I've only been around a while I can't put it in classifieds :-(

(I assume you're talking about the 70-300 AF-S VR f4.5/5.6)
 
As Steve stated that's the one I'm looking at but if there's a big difference in price between vr and non vr then I don't mind going non vr.
 
Just to throw another lens into the mix, have you thought about the 55-300 which should be ok with your D300 and is quite a bit less than the £300ish you will need to spend on a used 70-300 VR. When I was looking for advise on the non VR 70-300 which I believe is available for around the £90-£100 mark I was told that it wasn't that good, which I suppose being a third of the price is only to be expected so I ended up with the VR version. However if the 55-300 had been around at the time I probably would have gone for that as being DX would have been ok for my D90, whereas the 70-300 VR is ,I believe, FX. Sorry if I have caused confusion, but I felt I needed all the advise I could get when looking for mine.
