Nikon 70-300mm 4.5-5.6 vr and extetion tubes

Hi I hope some one can help with my question can I use extention tubes on a nikon 70-300 4.5-5.6 vr zoom lens for close up work?

I've never used extention tubes but I think (might be wrong) that they are better used on shorter focal lengths. You'd probably be better with a Raynox 250 on that lens....I'll did out a picture or two I've taken with that combo...Also you might get a better response if you put extention tubes in your title

No reason why you couldn't use tubes on that lens, they make the focal distant less so using with really short lenses would mean the distant between lens and subject would become too short to get focus. Your lens will be fine though.
