Nikon 70-300mm v 55-300mm

Hi All, asking a question on behalf of a friend, I am a Canon user so know little about Nikon lenses.

My friend is looking at the lenses below and would like to know what the main difference between them is apart from the £160 in price that is?

It's for use with a 5000D

Nikon 70-300mm f4.5-5.6G VR AF-S IF-ED
Nikon 55-300mm f/4.5-5.6G VR AF-S DX NIKKOR
