Nikon 75 -300mm Lens

I have been offered this lens as part of a package for another lens I am purchasing.
I was hoping if any current members have any experience with this lens, preferably using it on a modern body. I will be using it on a D7000.

Any comments and advice greatly appreciated.
 
Do you mean the 70 - 300mm Nikkor ?
Had one many moons ago. Rather good value for money. Sharp except at the extreme corners. Close it down a stop and it does just fine.
 
Hi, If you mean the "Nikon ED AF Nikkor 70-300mm 4-5.6 D" then I have one of these and it is Excellent.

Nikon did make a push-pull 75-300, and it was an excellent lens. I don't think it was a "D" ype lens, but I seem to remember it was the old style of construction, i.e metal.
There is of course, the 70-300 D, and the 70-300 G vr lens too.
Some of Nikon's older lenses are extremely good optically, but of course they are pre D type, so may not be for every-one.
 
Well I bought the lens and my initial impressions are what a excellent lens for £60.00, I also had a 28-85 for £50.00. Initial impressions have left me well pleased. Although with the current weather here in Swansea I haven't given it much of a run. The one I bought is in mint condition and seems hardly used and boxed with all paperwork etc. This lens is the push pull zoom lens and also has a tripod collar fitted which is std, also it has macro facility.

A couple of SOOC pics from the persons house who I purchased the lenses from. Pic 1 was focused on the give way sign and pic 2 was focused towards the woods. To me these have come out good considering the environment of the day etc. Both photos taken in Auto.
Also, I am disabled and have nerve damage to my left shoulder, so these shoots were more pleasing considering the lens doesn't have VR.
For anyone on a budget like myself and starting out in photography these older lenses are well worth considering.
