Has anyone got any experience with this lens, camerabox have it in still new at 700, im very tempted but would like to hear peoples experience with this before i shell out my cash

thanks in advance

Fantastic lens, I loved mine, only sold it to get the 70-200 VR...

an extra £700 for VR and AF-S  :cuckoo:

The only caveat is that it does occasionally bring up a lens error on the likes of the D200/D300, which can be a pita

Had a play with a 70-200 VR AF-S, I wish i hadnt! but if this ones half decent i think ill be able to live with it :D

Excellent lens - I think with the price increases £700 is a bit on the high side (I'm sure it was closer to £500 at the start of the year) but optically its an excellent lens, and focusing is very fast (assuming your body has a decent motor) even compared to AF-S lenses.

Ive got a d200 so its a decent motor, probbably not buying it anytime soon but just one to put on my wish list i think

I don't think it's been below £600 this year, earlier last year you could get one for around 525-550 new, but

£550 is about right. I'd also look at a Sigma EX or EX DG 70-200 as well (not the Macro versions) as the older ones are cheap (under £400 used) and are also excellent.

I had a play with a used 80 - 200 f2.8 in Aperture the other day, and I have to say that I was thoroughly impressed with it. I had a brief go on it with a D300 - it focussed quickly, and produced wonderfully sharp pictures. I can't justify the extra £££ on a 70-200mm f2.8 VR lens, so this is a perfectly acceptable compromise for me.

Thanks for the feedback guys, and thanks for showing me the feedback from camerabox! looks like i wont be shopping there, and sadly flash my credit card has a £500 limit being a student and all XD

Nice lens but that one the AF is a little slow for my usage and i really dont like the push pull system
