Yes
So i have a nikon 80-200ed inside i can see the small black plastic vein type things that open and close. one of them is loose and floating around the confusing thing is despite it clearly blocking the view when not on the camera body ,the lens still takes what i can see to be perfect photos. Surely i should get it mended but whats the point if it works perfect? anyone shed some light on this?

am lost by 'small black vein things that open and close'

what are you doing to the lens to make them open and close, zooming, working the aperture lever by hand?

can you post some perfect photos? ideally taken at a range of zooms and apertures wide open and around f16?

Hugh

sorry, my deslexia sometimes makes my post confusing.
yes its the aperture lever that makes them move and one is loose. after trying f22 i see that it is clearly over exposing but at f2.8 the pictures look pretty much fine. so i guess its repair time.
sorry kinda a pointless post now but was just excited it was still working, lol how wrong can you be!

I'm guessing the OP means that one of the aperture blades (vanes?) is floating around inside the lens. IMO, get it fixed before it ends up wrecking the rest of the iris. It's even possible (not sure of the anatomy of the lens in question) that bthe blade could drop out of the back of the lens and into the works of the body, possibly endangering the mirror mechanism and shutter.

OK understand now - sorry for missing you first time round. As said it does need a repair - and it will cause you bigger issues as time goes on
