I've had this lens for a few months now and it seem i'm not using it as much as I thought as even in the studio I don't seem to use anything but the 24-70 f2.8 as i mostly shoot at f8 and even out on location stuff its the 24-70 i'm using. I guess the point is I see this as a luxury lens which is nice to have in a kit bag but at £600 think I could use the money better else where. So I think its time to move it on to pastures new, any one else suffered this with this lens or something similar.

I can remember your excitement about getting the 85mm F1.4 in the first place - it's just lens lust, isn't it? Suddenly, we need, want, must have, desire this (read: any) particular lens, as we'll use it constantly and it'll really suit our style of photography and, if it doesn't, we'll change our style to suits the lens as it's so fantastically good!

No doubt it is a brilliant bit of kit, as more than often proved by the likes of Dustin Diaz, but it doesn't mean it's for everyone - I'd be hard pushed to justify the cost between it and the (also fantastic) F1.8 - didn't you have the F1.8 before the F1.4?

At least you have it to sell at probably no loss to yourself to subsidise your next 'wonder lens.' :D

I have the same lenses and the same problem. But I'm keeping it. Too nice to part with.
I am however finally going to part with my 14-24mm. I just don't use that one at all. I tried it yesterday and I just can't get excited about wide angle on FF. Superb lens though. Wasted on me.

At £600 I can't see you losing much, if anything when you sell, even in a year's time. You can guarantee though, sure as anything as soon as you sell it you'll be in a situation thinking "if only I hadn't sold that 85mm" :bonk:

It is a lovely bit of kit and at f1.4 its to die for but the photography i'm shooting now does not need it so its time to move it on, yeh i might miss it but glad I gave it a try. Think I've moved past the lens lust thing now and just want to take good pictures as i'm happy with my kit.

I thought my 14-24 would be my first lens to go but I love it now and when I go urban exploring there is nothing to touch it and love it to bits.

I've got my 14-24, 24-70, 70-200 f2.8's so hve it all covered. :)

Me too.

Dont! I've just put it up for sale on here! I'll start regretting it. :bang:
