I bought a Nikon 85mm prime f/1.8 a couple of years ago, id say that 2/3 of my images are taken with it. Love its sizer weight, feel, all round smashing lens.
I was shooting a wedding the other week and happened to lose the lens, I was devastated. Its seems to be gone, no one handing it in, none on Gumtree or Ebay that matched - shall post serial no on lost/stolen when I get home.
When I bought that lens, I thought id get the 1.8, and if I had no issue with it, keep it and save myself the money (against the 1.4).
As I use it all the time, I have now replaced it with the 1.4D (I wanted an aperture ring). I have to say, only took a handful of images but Im totally blown away with it, everything about it feels great. It is built like the 135mm DC f2 - feels great.
I cant wait to get out tomorrow and at the weekend and give it an outing.
As I plan to keep it (hopefully not lose it) I ordered it from ProCameraShop. I ordered, realised it was grey, then cancelled. After some careful consideration and speaking to them in person I thought I would have a crack and test them out. Ordered last Thursday - they told me it was sourced internationally and then it was shipped from me from down south Monday and arrived yesterday.
Fairly pleased, granted, it will be great until I need to call on some form of warranty.
