Decent lens if you don't need anything quicker (f2.8) especially considering the price.
There was a good comparison to the Nikon 24-70 f2.8G lens on the Camera labs website, got a great write up.
I'd consider one as a light travel lens as an alternative to my Tamron 24-70 f2.8

Also compares the Tamron. I've never used the Nikon 24-70 f2.8 but I love the Tamron (just bought another) it's been my workhorse in the last year and from all I've read I'm not sure the Nikon is any better, I do make a lot of use of the VC in the Tamron lens.

Vignettes quite a lot wide open, particularly at shorter focal lengths but stop down an it's fine. Sharp with decent 'bokeh' for a slow lens. Focuses faster than my old 28-105 and the VR is good. Bloody sight lighter and smaller then the 24-70/2.8!
