Yes
I have just taken the plunge and brought a used Nikon AF-S 70-200 f2,8G ED-IF VR.
While i await it's arrival i am keen to find out which tele converter extender i can buy for it.
I used a EF 1.4 extender on my Canon 70-200 f2.8 lens so just need some advice on what make and type work with the above lens, if possible i would like to keep AF and VR and i dont really need x2 unless it is a must.

Over to you, what do you use and does it effect image quality? does AF and VR still work?
Thanks in advance
Tony

Well done

According to Nikon it will work with the TC14EII, TC17EII and TC20EII, so all of them, I would try the 1.7x as I never think a 2x is ideal on anything other than a fast prime.

I use the 1.7x on my 200-400VR without problem, retains all focus and VR abilities.

Well I got a Kenko Pro 2x just to try and it works frine with the D300 & 70-200VR.

Yes took the plunge and went for the 70-200 only becuae it best replaces the 70-200 f2.8L i had when with Canon.
As always the Nikon extenders seem rather expensive compared to Canon so hoped someone would say a third party extender worked a treat, probably not going to happen and i will have to post an ad in the wanted section for a 1.7 Nikon.

Hi Raider
Where's the best place for used 70-200
I would love one but they are sooooo expensive

I have the kenko 1.4 TC and notice no real world degradation in image quality on my 70-200.

Anything is possible if you pixel peep enough.

I use the TC14EII & TC20EII on my 70-200.

From my experience you would hardly know the 1.4x is there and the 2x is fine so long as it is reasonably bright (otherwise the focus can hunt).

However, looking at the previous replies it looks like every TC is blooming marvelous :)

Yes it is a matter of biting the bullet and have fingers crossed the AFs and VR make the extra £250 expense over the 80-200 worth it.

No cheap place all you can do is hope one comes along that is mint little used at a price you are prepared to pay.
Compared to the Canon EF 70 -200 f2.8 L IS, the Nikon is around £150 cheaper.

The difference between an 80-200 AF-D and a 70-200 VR, whether new or used tends to be a wee bit more than £250 - £5/600 would be nearer the mark....

Hi
Sorry i was going by the price i saw of £699 for a mint boxed used 80-200 2 touch compared to the price i paid for my mint boxed used 70-200

It depends which two touch 80-200 you are talking about.

The AF-S version is about £700-800, but the more common AF-D around £500-600.

Goneforagasper, I got a new 70-200 for £1200 from Digigood about 3 months ago. I don't know if they are still doing them for the same price
