Nikon AFS Nikkor 300mmthe f4d if-ed with a Nikon Teleconrvertor Tc 14E11

I have a Nikon D5000 with a 70-300mm vr lens. I am looking at adding the Nikkor 300mm f4d-ed with a teleconvertor Tc14E11. Has anyone got any experience with these two lenses, and what would i get over my existing 70-300mm lens.

You'd get a faster and sharper lens that will take the TC very well to give you that extra length. You wouldn't have VR, but if you keep the speed up it's not that big a deal.

The downside: it's bigger and weighs that bit more, so perhaps not a lens you'd just throw in your bag on the off chance.
