Is there any reason why a trial version of CC Pro-2 wouldn't recognise either of my D3 bodies?
I confirmed the USB settings were correct in the cameras' menu, the cameras were both recognised by the computer and 'woke-up' the software when the camera was attached, but the Program itself doesn't recognise either camera.

Not so great for tethered shooting then.

There was an initial issue with Nikon Transfer trying to recognise both cameras to import images, but I switched off all the auto-transfer utilities on that Program and left it off.

Nikon software is in general abysmal....

Their wireless software wouldn't support the D3S until it had been out for ever and the upgrade was quite a dance.

Have you updated cameras to latest firmware and run upgrade check on CCP? Even when you just d/l it there's sometimes an upgrade.

Can't remember if D3 uses PTP/MT settings (o if they abandoned this nonsense) but if it does then check the transfer setting in the menu. Switch it from one to the other.

Depending what you want to do, you may find Sofortbild adequate. It's nicely written and free ;)

USB is currently set to MTP/PTP - the other option is 'Mass Storage'.
In 'Mass Storage' mode the camera display defaults to 'PC' and no further action can be taken on-camera.

No software upgrades available and I'm not buying a license key til I know it works.

I just want to display images on a large PC monitor as they're shot, so clients get a 'bigger' view to choose from when shooting events.
I had to manually download after each set, which slowed things down considerably.

Last thing: I'm on PC not Mac, so the Sofortbild won't work.

Although there were no available updates from Nikon, I checked the Nikon USA website and the version available there is 2.8.0 instead of the 2.0.0 version I downloaded here yesterday.

Done that and it works perfectly...

Yeah not the first time Europe d/l has lagged....

Glad you got it sorted. Can't remember price of CCP but if that's all you want it for Lightroom 3 IMO does a better job.

137€ for CCP-2 as opposed to 247€ for Lightroom-3.... i think I'll go with that then as I don't like lightroom all that much...
I have the trial version and it baffled the fark out of me... I can do 90% of what it allegedly offers using Bridge and Photoshop CS4...
