No
nikon d3 of eos 1d mk111 ?????
Which one ?

reason for use Weddings and wildlife.

I currently work for a high profile wedding photographer and I use a 1d mk111
but he wants me to shoot nikon . in question a nikon d3 . he uses a d3s
but wants me to have his d3 ?

d3 = full frame
canon = all my L glass

he wants to swap the d3 for the canon no cash the canon then will be used as back up...

I will have the d3 for a week or so to play with but is there any advantages .
image noise sharpness ?

Im just not sure ..

If it was his suggestion to be swapping camera's I'ld be asking myself whats in it for you!

Noone swaps like for like with no cash unless they're going to be better off!

I think it's a no brainer, if you work for him, you keep your Canon, and let him give you the D3.

As nissanman says, "what's in it for you"

Can't quite understand where the guy is coming from to be honest.

P.S. If he's that "high profile" then surely he can afford to buy you a D3s???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess if he wants you to have that and pays you enough money then get one.

I can't see the point personally if you're used to Canon.

I prefer Nikon myself but swapping all that kit is a major expense

Yup, if he wants you to use Nikon and he has a spare body why would you want to supply your own gear?

Well, other than the D3 is a better camera for weddings than a MkIII and he probably wants to do one lot of processing to get a consistant finish to the album...

But still, if its his choice, make him hand the gear out. Sounds like he's not short of a bob or two.

Unless he gives you all the equivalent n* glass then what is the point? Is the D3 just barely alive after too much use? You should probably think about your own wedding business in the future and not compromise your set up. Nikon may be a better system eventually, but be careful with that sort of deals.

I do have my own photography bussiness .
the whole part of this post was to compare both the cameras pro points.
Im very familiar with the canon but not so the nikon ?
the morals of the person I work with should I say were not in question.

I sorry if I worded this wrong .....

I might just keep my canon and have the d3 aswell .

thanks for all comments
