wish someone would give nikon a kick in the nuts/up the biff and sort their gui out :'(

however to get to the point minus the mini rant, does anyone have a particularly clever workflow that includes the two apps?

Not at the minute but I am going to be looking into using NX more as I'm finding colour accuracy a problem in LR, particularly with reds. I think it may be down to the ACR NEF processing so I'm going to see what it's like with NX. Never realy tried it before so wish me luck!

Funny, I feel almost the opposite way about this :|. I 'grew up' (I've only been doing this for 18 months ;)) with Capture NX2 and really appreciate some of the tools it offers (Control Points, Gradation Filters, High Pass filters and fully adjustable sharpening), although I quite like the Vibrancy, Saturation and Blacks controls in LR2 (and the effects which they produce) :).

At first, I though that only LR2 could give that under-saturated, 3-dimensional, high contrast look (as often seen in the work of TP users like Luke Woodford and Jayst84, amongst others). Now I'm beginning to realise that with careful use of the Levels and Curves and a bit if generous high pass filtering :naughty: it's quite possible to replicate that look with NX2 - still, with LR2, it's just easier and quicker.

In answer to the question, I do utilise both apps in my processing, but seldom on the same image, as noise gets to be a real problem if you sharpen an image or adjust the high pass filters using both pieces of software .

Generally, I prefer LR2 for portraits and showing textures of decaying materials (bricks, rusty metal etc.) and use NX2 for just about everything else :|. Two great software packages though, IMHO :).
