Insignificant differences mostly. The s has video, but it's crappy for video so irrelevant. A £60 phone would have better quality video these days. If you can get the 300 a lot less, and you like that body, then I'd go for that, use the savings towards a lens ... or phone
I had a D300s (passed it on to my brother now) and a friend had the D300. IQ wise they were identical and a few minor changes to the button layout. The only thing I liked over the D300 was the dual card slots.
I had both and the only difference that affected me was the two card slots in the D300s. Some people swear the af is faster I can't say I noticed it and some say there is less noise on the D300s again I didn't see that.
I've still got one D300 and it still takes good shots.
