Hi all.
Having a problem with my D300 whereby the AF illuminator is stubbornly refusing to work. I first noticed it today when i was shooting a low light party and my camera wouldn't focus. I thought it may be the SB-800 Illuminator switched off so i looked at the menu, and it was on. I tried taking the flash off and the Built in one didn't work. Checked in the menu and guess what, it was on. Here's the weird part though. Tried my SB-800 on my dad's D3. It worked fine. Dad's SB-900 on my D300, worked fine. But My flash on my camera and its a no. Even no flash is just not working.

Please tell me what I'm doing wrong (Hopefully the body's not broke as it ran out of warranty a couple of weeks ago) as in low light my camera AF is currently simply making the camera heavier.

Thanks in advance.

Have been in single yes. I did all the tests with different flashes ETC without changing any settings.

have you tried the 2 button reset...it should resolve the problem for you

Just figured part of it out. The Assist only works when the focus point is in the centre. Still dosen't explain why the SB-900 assist works though.
