Hello all, My first post. I am looking to upgrade my Nikon D200 but not sure what to get. I would like the D700 but a bit pricey, so coming down to the D300 level, is there much difference between the 300 and the 300s. I'm taking picture quality and handling here. I will probably buy used whichever one I go for.
 
Video, extra (SD) card slot and a few other minor tweaks, as far as image quality and handling go they're identical.
 
I think the main difference is the 's' has HD video plus it has an SD card slot along side the single CF slot, same CMOS sensor and 51 point AF system, so picture quality is pretty much exactly the same as the D300.
Secondhand probably around £700 with about 10k on the shutter :shrug:
Good upgrade choice though if it's noise freeish below 1000/1600 iso :D
 
I would look about but depending where you buy I have seen D300 at around £500 upwards from private sellers.
