I basically just want to use it as a back up camera to my D3 and for possibly putting my 70-200 on at weddings.

I already have the money for a D200, but is it worth waiting to get the money for a D300 (secondhand this is) or buy the cheaper camera and use saved money for another flash or another lens.

Just wondering what the difference between the 2 cameras was and whether its worth the extra money.

There are people better qualified than me, but the main thing imo would be the ISO, much better on the D300. Plus, I believe it has 51 rather than 11 focus points?

Having had a D3 I now expect decent, noise free images at sensible ISO ratings, for that reason I have just sold my D200 for a D300 as I was spending way too much time PP noisy images from the D200 at anything above iso400 in lowish light situations, the D300 whilst nowhere near the D3 is far more acceptable for noise between 400-1600 IMHO.

I have a D200 and my wife has a D300. They feel very similar at at 400/640 ISO and better they are. As most of the stuff that I photograph with my D200 is at that level or using flash there is not a lot in it.

S5 pro for weddings?
