Hi all
After a bit of information and help. The wireless remote shutter release (3rd party) works perfectly with the D300, yet a wired one I also have doesn't.
OK the wired version is a cheapie not the Nikon MC-36 . Its the second wired one I have tried and in both cases they used to work when first bought.

Should I really go for the MC -36 as the Nikon quote on the price list is £158.99 or is there a cheaper genuine Nikon MC version.

Have heard a lot of good reviews about linkdelight, more often about the battery grip. How about this

MC-30 is the one I have for my D300 around £60, it is the more basic wired one.

Tried wireless ones in the past, too hit and miss.

Thanks both for the quick reply and to any other postings thanks as well. I will have a look at the MC30 as the MC-36 isnt exactly what I want but the MC30 sound spot on.

Get yourself on ebay, you can get a Yongnuo cable release for around 3.99 it has release and hold and work very well. posted from China.

I have had 2 of these cheapie versions and those are the ones that fail, hence going for a genuine Nikon cord instead, but thank you anyway for mentioning it

I was doing two things at once then! I meant to say that it is still working after about 3 years of use and has only been retired because I got a wireless one from flashinthepan! Might be worth checking their site as it was about £10

I brought a Hahnel wireless thing for my D300. Can't get it to work the camera!! :help:

I had a cheap wires one, bined it. I have the rf602 trigger (does flash or shutter) and you can't fault them, for quick and dirty I have an IR remote, third party and less than a fiver, I've not felt the need for a wired one since.

I just got an MC 36 copy, £20 shipped from Hong Kong. Build quality seems great. Going to do a full review on my blog over the weekend. Already have the MC30 but needed the 36 for timelapse stuff.

Would be most interested in the copy version. Maybe when you have checked it out you could PM me with the results and which HK place you made the purchase.

Thank you
