Nikon D300 shutter speed at 8fps

I have been reading everywhere that this camera can go up to 8fps when fitted with the grip and suitable batteries. I tried everything to get this speed and then looking on " you tube" I came across a demo, it mentioned about active D lighting. AH HA I had this in the on N position and that was the problem, active D lighting turned off will give the 8fps but not with it set at H N or L .

Just something to watch out for and maybe worth a mention

You also wont get the fps if your on 14 bit

It has to be with the D3 battery in the grip or AA's not the standard d300 batteries and in jpeg or 12. Bit raw not 14 bit as djinn said.

just out of interest then, if you don't have the D3 batteries, or the grip or anything what sort of frame rate is achieveable? for example with just a D300 with ordinary batteries etc?

9fps using the hack above, if not then the D300 max's out at 6fps
