Nikon D300

Been looking about the Internet at some of the deals out and about, I have found a Nikon D300 for £310 on mpbphotographic.co.uk it is of course second hand and apparently well used.

Is it worth buying?

Currently have both D3100 & D5100 is it worth buying a D300?

Depends on what you want if for :shrug:

It does have an internal focus motor so you can use most lenses but it doesn't do well in low light.

I love mine but do sometimes struggle to keep the shutter speed up, it's fine up to ISO 800 but beyond that very noisy

See I did like the idea of the internal focus motor but then all of my lenses have a focus motor anyway, I just thought it might be a step up the ladder and a better all round camera?

It's a few years old now and due for an update
Does have a tough body and is weatherproof which I have tested many times
Recently bought a D7100 as a second body, does a far better job in low light
It is a lovely camera despite it's age, mine has done about 80,000 shutter actuations and never missed a beat, bit battle scared but still does me proud

Ive used one for the last 6 months and its been great. but as said above its high iso capability is its downfall. Im upgrading to the d700 soon so have one for sale with 30k clicks if your interested

I use my D300 alot, if is really low light situation where high iso is require i would prefer my D7000. But soon i will upgrade my D300 to a D700 instead.

It's a very good camera, and great value or money. Yes, above 800 ISO gets noisy, but would still choose that over anything other than any Nikon full frame camera.

If you want 6fps, (8fps with grip and certain batteries) better Auto Focus, (51 focus points) 100% viewfinder and a more ergonomic and more solidly made body, then yes.

For that price it seems a pretty good deal, about a third of what I bought one for, but the sensor has been surpassed in resolution and high ISO performance. You will also have to get CF cards, because the D300 doesn't do SD cards. :shake: CF cards are the better format imho, but if all your other cameras use SD cards, then it is another expense to keep in mind. :shrug:

Depends what you want to use it for. It's a great sports camera. And in good light, I found it a great camera. And I don't do much high ISO stuff anyway.
