Nikon D300s and focus issue with 3rd party lens

I have a Kiron 70-150 lens that I've used with a D70s and got really nice sharp results with, but it doesn't want to do this on the D300s. Does anyone have any idea why this might be? I'll get a Nikon 70-300vr in time I guess (after the 12-24), but for the time being it would be good to be able to use the Kiron.

I found that when I upgraded from the D70 to the D200 my Sigma 70-300mm APO lens suddenly didn't seem good enough. The resolution of the D200 brought out the flaws in the lens. :( I upgraded to the Nikon 7-300 VR and it was a big improvement.

If however your problem that the focus is slightly out, and a little manual focussing can get a sharp image, then you may want to try the focus fine tune option on the D300S.
 
Scott I've used a Nikon 35mm prime to good effect. Nice and sharp in other words. Redhed 17, I can only use the Kiron on manual. Focus fine tune option? didn't know there was one! It's a complicated little gadget, the D300s...
 
If the 35mm was sharp, but the Kiron is not, then I suspect it would be the increased resolution of the D300S showing up the limitations of the lens. :(

The D300S can be complicated, but at least the options are there to use when/if you're ready for them. ;) :)

The think Auto Focus Fine Tune is only available with Auto Focus lenses when using the AF.
