I have just ordered one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wireless-Sh...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1326351477&sr=1-1 but I cant seem to get it to work. There are no instructions with it but the part you plug in your camera has only one switch with 2 options as does the hand held part. I have tried all the combinations to no avail. The part that plugs into the camera works as the shutter release button works on it, but it doesnt fire remotely and there is a new battery in this part. Im not sure if I need to change any camera setting to sync it or something? Any one else got one of these that could help please?

My remote release plugs into to the 10 pin female connector on my cameras.

Cannot see the connector on any of the pics on the website. The connector is cropped out on all the shots - how odd !!

Has it got a round ten pin connector that screws in to the front of the camera body Al?

Yeah mate, when I plug that in it fires from the shutter button connected to it, but the wireless remote part doesnt work??? It ahs a new battery in it too. The ten pin connecter has a switch and no matter what side I put it to it still takes photos from that connector. The remote also has a switch that has a wee box with a "B" beside it and the other option looks like a self timer icon. I have tried all combinations to no avail. It might just be faulty?

This might sound obvious, but as I had someone return a similar item to me (after Jessops had "tested" it too) you have switched both parts on? The reason I ask is the symptoms you're describing are exactly the same......

Yes Flash in the pan (great name) I have tried all 4 combinations. There are 2 options on each part. Like I said it takes photos from the part that plugs into the camera just not from the remote. Im no expert, but it looks like its not recieving the signal??? It didnt cost much, can anyone suggest a better piece of kit for the job? Thanks again

Also Ive just checked the battery is in the right way which it is and when I press the button on the remote the small LED light does come on so Im even more lost now. :)

Does it have a set of tiny micro switches (usually behind the battery)? If it does they have to be set the same on both parts.

Do you have a test meter? If so check that the batteries have power in them, just because they're new doesn't mean they aren't duff.

Dont see any micro switches mate and Ill test the battery or buy a new one. Good thinking, thanks lads ;)

there will be a small panel with (probably) 4 small switches on both parts of the device

EDIT: If you look at the 3rd picture on the Amazon listing page you can clearly see the micro switches.....
