Has anyone used one of these? Had any issues? Any tips on what to look for when buying one?

I'm looking at getting a cheap one (hopefully with two third party batteries) for a 3 day safari in November that I booked today and is to compliment the two Nikon branded batteries I already have as I feel I will be using the AF-C quite a lot on the 55-300mm and already know how power hungry that can be.

I have one of these bought from these ( http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vertical-...tery_Grips&hash=item4cf67789f2#ht_3627wt_1037) , came quickly and works great, although I don't use the cable that comes supplied for portrait mode, but it works well when I tried it. I also use third party batteries with it with no problem, you do need the genuine battery in the grip to recognise the third party batteries but once recognised you can take the genuine one out and use two third party.

I had this one for my D3100 - Just sold it, but I had no problems with it, I only used two original batteries so don't know about 3rd party batteries in there.
Neewer D3100 Grip

I did use the cable, but you do only need it if you want use the vertical button for shooting, otherwise for just extra juice and making the camera bigger it worked perfectly.

Cheers guys, I've just ordered one of the fleabay specials so will let you know how it turns out.
